Missions Ministry

Gaston Baptist Church has always been a missions minded church and we desire to become more involved in missions activity. As a church affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, we participate in the Cooperative Program. This program allows us the opportunity to touch the world through missions giving and missions activity. Gaston designates nine percent of our weekly tithes and offerings to the Cooperative Program. The money from Gaston is pooled together with other like-minded churches in our county, state, and nation and the money is used to fund mission work all over the world.

Though the Cooperative is our primary missions giving outlet, we also have other missions priorities. We contribute to the Mississippi Baptist Children's Village, our local Prentiss Baptist Association, Blue Mountain College, and the Northeast Mississippi Community College Baptist Student Union.

We have recently sent mission teams to Africa, Belize, and Dominican Republic. In 2019 we began a new three year church planting partnership with The Church at Skye Canyon in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Financial contributions are a big part of our missions ministry, but we are also involved in missions education and activity. The missions ministry is composed of the following ministry groups:

Women's Missionary Union (WMU)

GBC ladies meet monthly to discuss what God is doing around the world through Southern Baptist Missions. They organize missions emphases throughout the year and encourage missions activity among the church body.

Brotherhood

On the first Sunday morning of each month the men and boys
are invited to attend the Brotherhood meeting at 7:30am. Breakfast is served and a guest speaker brings a challenge from God's Word.  Brotherhood provides an opportunity for fellowship with other men and discussion about mission projects that are available.

Girls in Action (GA's) and Royal Ambassadors (RA's)

Missions education is a priority for our children as well. On Wednesday evenings, boys and girls meet to learn about our Southern Baptist missionaries around the world and to discuss how they can connect themselves to the work of missions. They also enjoy times of recreation and fellowship.
